CERN has a large number of buildings for different purposes. Newcomers to CERN often struggle to understand the rational related to the building numbers.[1]
CERN has
- about 703 buildings of all sizes covering a total footprint of 445000 m2,
- about 293 barracks (huts, modular buildings and maritime containers).
This adds up to:
- 1267 floors (excluding roofs and underground),
- about 17 380 premises (excluding roofs and underground) covering a total surface of 672 000 m2.
