The first picture on the Web that was simply a photo for fun—not related to work. Silvano de Gennaro claims “It was the photo that opened the web to life” or as stated by BBC, "The unlikely photo that kickstarted the social web".

Les Horribles Cernettes was an all-female pop band formed by CERN employees. A photograph of the band was the first image shared on the World Wide Web.[1]
