On Thursday 25 July 1963, members of CERN gathered in the library to remember former Director-General, the late Prof. C. J. Bakker, and to witness the unveiling of a bust created — from memory — by CERN staff, Paul Theurillat, photolithographer in the Scientific Information Service.[1]

The bust is still located in the library, in the reading room in building 3.
