CERN has two main sites, Meyrin and Prevessin. It is less known that CERN has 18 fenced sites and 90 hectare of woods and forest.

CERN land and sites consist of:

• 624 ha of land made available by the Host States (France 516 ha, Switzerland 108 ha)
• 18 fenced sites covering a surface area of 226 ha (France 177 ha, Switzerland 49 ha)
• Meyrin site: 78 ha, Prevessin site: 87 ha
• 24.9 km of fencing
