MAC

From cernipedia

The medium access control sublayer and the logical link control (LLC) sublayer together make up the data link layer (DLL). Within that data link layer, the LLC provides flow control and multiplexing for the logical link (i.e. EtherType, 802.1Q VLAN tag), while the MAC provides flow control and multiplexing for the transmission medium. MAC is responsible for the transmission of data packets to and from the network-interface card, and to and from another remotely shared channel.
